The Law School aims to provide students with an exceptional legal education with a focus on moral education. The School gives full play to its expertise and actively participates in social services, serving the community in the theoretical research of local rule of law. In the fields of the rule of law of government and business and the development of artificial intelligence technology and modern financial industry, the School has been engaged in research in international law, economic law, civil and commercial (intellectual property) law, administrative law, financial law, aviation law and environmental law, contributing to the building of Shenzhen into a pilot demonstration area of cocialism with Chinese characteristics.
The Faculty of Law, the predecessor the Law School, was founded in 1983. It is one of the first law departments to carry out research in Hong Kong Laws after China’s reform and opening up. Renowned academics in the area of law Mingxuan Gao, Zepei Li and Likun Dong have been successively appointed as deans of the School.
As the only full-time law school in Shenzhen, the School focuses on discipline construction with the law major recognized as the excellent, featured and important major of Guangdong Province. The School offers two undergraduate programs, namely law and sociology, and has been approved to confer master’s degrees in law with three professional master degree programs. Currently, the School has a total enrollment of nearly 2000 students and 88 full-time faculty members, including three distinguished professors, 21 professors, 30 associate professors, three PhD supervisors and 44 master supervisors. There are two “national top ten outstanding young jurists” and two “Guangdong top ten outstanding jurists.” In the past 37 years, we have educated almost 7,000 students for professional service in the law and law related professions.
The School boasts excellent facilities, including the national Shenzhen University Hong Kong and Macao Basic law Research Center, China Intellectual Property Rights Theory Research Base approved by the Supreme People's Court, National Intellectual Property Training Base (Guangdong), Law Institute of Innovation and Development, and Shenzhen Special Economic Zone Legislation Research Center.
The School is committed to serving the national strategy and local economic development in the fields of international law, constitutional and administrative law, economic law and intellectual property law. The School has carried out more than 10 projects at national level and nearly 30 projects at ministerial and provincial levels. The School faculty has published a number of research papers in high impact journals such as Chinese Social Sciences and Chinese Law, making great contributions to the construction of the rule of law in Shenzhen and the theoretical research on the construction of socialist rule of law with Chinese characteristics.
