The College of Civil and Transportation Engineering is home to three departments: Department of Civil Engineering, Department of Construction Management and Real Estate, and Department of Transportation Engineering, offering three undergraduate programs in Civil Engineering, Engineering Management and Transportation Engineering, a MS program in Civil Engineering, three ME programs in Management Science and Engineering, Construction and Civil Engineering and Transportation Engineering, and a PhD program in Civil Engineering.
The College boasts an accomplished faculty team, including three full-time academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, one academician of the International Eurasian Academy of Sciences and one academician of the Japanese Academy of Engineering. There are 36 doctoral supervisors, 33 full professors and 31 associate professors. All faculty members graduated from renowned universities with 96% holding doctoral degrees and 70% having overseas study or work experience.
The College has excellent research environment and facilities. There are four provincial key laboratories, namely, Key Laboratory of Coastal Urban Resilient Infrastructures (MOE), Key Laboratory of Durability for Marine Civil Engineering, Key Laboratory of Deep Earth Sciences and Geothermal Energy Exploitation and Utilization, and Key Laboratory for Geo-Environmental Monitoring of Great Bay Area, MNR. In addition, the College has carried out cooperation between industry, universities and research organizations and has built the International Joint Laboratory for Coastal Civil Engineering Materials with the Microlab of University of Delft, and the Building Internet and BIM Research Center/Sino-Australia Joint Research Center in BIM and Smart Construction with the China Building Information Modeling Industry Development Alliance and Swinburne University of Technology. The College also owns the Guangdong Civil Engineering Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center, and has established close partnerships with famous construction enterprises to set up 37 internship bases, preparing highly competent professionals in civil and transportation engineering with global vision and innovative spirit.
The College provides students with a unique academic atmosphere, achieving fruitful results in scientific research. In recent years, the College has undertaken over 110 national projects and its research results won the second prize of National Technology Invention Award in 2014, 2015 and 2017 respectively. Additionally, the research results of our faculty have been applied in many mega projects such as Yantian International Container Terminals, Shenzhen Airport, Shenzhen Metro, Shanghai-Kunming and Hangrui Expressway Guizhou Section, exerting positive impacts on the socioeconomic performance.
