The 5th Carnival for Taiwan Teachers and Students in Shenzhen Colleges and Universities kicks off

On July 2, 2026, the 5th Carnival for Taiwan Teachers and Students in Shenzhen Colleges and Universities kicked off at Shenzhen University.

At the opening ceremony, Li Meng, Vice President of Shenzhen University, extended a warm welcome to young people from both sides of the Taiwan Strait on behalf of all faculty and students. He noted that Shenzhen and Taiwan share close geographical, people-to-people, and cultural ties. He expressed the hope that the event would enable teachers and students from both sides to carry out scientific and technological innovation practices and cultural study tours in parallel. Through mutual learning and exchanges, young participants can gain insights into the innovative spirit of the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone, preserve the roots of Chinese culture, and further enhance mutual understanding, friendship, and integration among cross-strait youth.

Following the opening ceremony, teachers and students from both sides of the Taiwan Strait toured the campus of Shenzhen University. They experienced the campus scenery, teaching facilities, and sports venues up close in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, which further deepened mutual understanding.

Lasting six days, the carnival fully leverages urban resources of Shenzhen and distinctive strengths of Shenzhen University, serving as an important bridge and youth bond for in-depth exchanges and integration between young students across the Taiwan Strait.

During the event, participants will visit the thematic exhibition "The Grand Tide of the Pearl River" to gain a comprehensive insight into the remarkable achievements of Guangdong's reform and opening-up over the past four decades, and truly experience the comprehensive strength and development advantages of the Chinese mainland. They will also watch the filmDear Youto immerse themselves in the warmth and heritage of Chaoshan folk culture, and participate in folk cultural experience activities at Splendid China Folk Village to personally appreciate the unique charm of traditional Chinese folk customs. These immersive cultural experiences aim to strengthen compatriot fellowship and cultural identity.

As a long-running signature event, the Carnival for Taiwan Teachers and Students in Shenzhen Colleges and Universities has been successfully held for four sessions, attracting nearly 400 teachers and students from across the Taiwan Strait in total. With innovative content and forms, the 5th carnival integrates popular AI scientific and technological research and learning programs with diverse activities including folk culture experience and field study tours. The event facilitates scientific and technological exchanges and common growth among cross-strait youth, and consolidates the foundation for in-depth youth exchanges by strengthening emotional resonance between these teachers and students through immersive cultural exchanges.
