On February 27, 2025, the team from Shenzhen University Tokyo College, consisting of an instructor Gao Wei, and three students Toshio Watanabe, Huang Cuiheng, and Nie Chengzhong, won the third-place team prize in the Asia-Pacific Regional Final of the Huawei ICT Competition held in Kuala Lumpur. This achievement marks a significant milestone for the College’s overseas campus in an international technology competition. It also reflects the success of Shenzhen University’s international talent development model, which integrates local universities, multinational corporations, and overseas campuses.
As the first overseas undergraduate campus of a Chinese university, Shenzhen University Tokyo College has been committed to meeting the demands of the digital economy since its founding in 2023. The College has pioneered an innovative dual mentorship system, combining academic and industry expertise. In October 2024, the College signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Huawei Japan to jointly establish the Huawei ICT Academy.
The Academy adopts a comprehensive training model that combines "theoretical instruction, practical training, and industry certification", marking a pioneering effort in multinational university-corporate partnerships. The College offers a "Network Communication Technology" course aligned with Huawei’s HCIA/HCIP/HCIE certification standards, providing students with systematic knowledge and skills in the ICT field. After one semester of instruction, over 100 classes have been completed, and the first cohort of students is now preparing for the HCIA certification.
In addition to the competition, the instructors and students visited Huawei Malaysia to learn about the global expansion of Shenzhen’s top enterprises. Following the competition, they also engaged in friendly cultural exchanges with participants from other countries.
