Shenzhen University's Economics and Business discipline enters top 1% of ESI global rankings

According to the latest Essential Science Indicators (ESI) data (dated from January 2014 to August 2024) from Clarivate Analytics on November 14, 2024, Shenzhen University (SZU)'s discipline of Economics and Business has ranked 505th globally, entering the top 1% worldwide. This achievement marks the 20th discipline from SZU to reach the top 1% in the ESI rankings.

At present, four disciplines at SZU have been rated as top 1‰ globally according to ESI, i.e., Engineering, Materials Science, Computer Science, and Chemistry; four disciplines in the top 3‰, namely Clinical Medicine, Environmental Science/Ecology, Social Sciences General, and Physics; and four disciplines in the top 5‰, which are Pharmacology and Toxicology, Biology and Biochemistry, Agricultural Sciences, and Plant and Animal Science.

According to the latest rankingsof ESI, a total of 20 disciplines at SZU rank in the top 1% globally. These disciplines, listed in the chronological order of their entry into the top 1% of ESI, are Engineering, Clinical Medicine, Materials Science, Biology and Biochemistry, Computer Science, Chemistry, Physics, Social Sciences General, Environmental Science/Ecology, Pharmacology and Toxicology, Agricultural Sciences, Plant and Animal Science, Neuroscience and Behavior, Psychiatry and Psychology, Molecular Biology and Genetics, Earth Sciences, Immunology, Mathematics, Microbiology, and Economics and Business.

The count of ESI highly cited papers has surged by 33.47 times since September 2015, when SZU made its debut in the ESI rankings. This remarkable growth underscores both quantitative and qualitative advancements, signifying substantial progress in discipline development and a notable enhancement in international academic productivity and influence.
