37 subjects of SZ University listed in best Chinese subject ranking

SHENZHEN University (SZU) has 37 subjects listed in the Best Chinese Subjects Ranking released recently by ShanghaiRanking Consultancy.

SZU also has the most listed subjects among universities not included in the country’s “Double First-Class” initiative to construct world-class universities and disciplines.

SZU’s optical engineering, architecture and artistic theory majors entered the country’s top 10, ranking fifth, eighth and ninth, respectively.

Five majors, specifically optical engineering, architecture, civil engineering, information and communication engineering, and computer science and technology, were included in the country’s top 10 percent. The five majors are also key subjects being fostered by Guangdong Province.

SZU’s other subjects such as journalism and communication, chemistry, and basic medical sciences saw rapid progress in the ranking.

The Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) has a total of seven subjects listed in the Best Chinese Subjects Ranking. Its physics major was in the country’s top 10 percent.

Zhejiang University has 59 listed subjects, ranking the first among all Chinese universities, followed by Tsinghua University.

Peking University ranked first in terms of the number of the top 2 percent of subjects (27 subjects).

Over 50 items in five categories were considered for the ranking. Related data are from third-party data sources such as the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Science and Technology.

ShanghaiRanking Consultancy is a fully independent organization on higher education intelligence.

In another development, SZU was listed 327th on the US News’ 2022 rankings of Best Global Universities released yesterday.

SZU ranked 26th on the Chinese mainland and the 3rd in Guangdong after Sun Yat-sen University and South China University of Technology.
