Shenzhen University completed orientation and enrollment for the incoming Class of 2026 this week. The university admitted 14,704 students this year, including 7,509 undergraduates, 6,406 master's students (inclusive of joint international programs, international students, and students from Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan), and 789 doctoral students (inclusive of international, Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan students). Incoming graduate students at Yuehai Campus and all undergraduate freshmen registered on September 3 and September 5, respectively. Graduate students at Lihu Campus registered on September 9.
This year, the university has further optimized its "one-stop" orientation platform. Most procedures, including information registration, dormitory assignment, and green channel applications, can be completed online during the summer vacation. After arriving on campus, new students only need to swipe their cards for verification or complete location check-in at registration points. A central key collection point has been set up at Shiguang Student Community on Yuehai Campus, where new students can finish registration and verification, collect their keys, and head straight to their dormitories.
Xu Bo, Party Secretary, together with Li Yonghua and Wang Yongcheng, Vice Presidents of Shenzhen University, visited the Yuehai and Lihu Campuses during the enrolment period to inspect orientation work and extend warm regards to frontline staff. Xu Bo and his delegation inspected new students' accommodation at Hongdouzhai Dormitory Area and talked with freshmen and their parents on the lawn inside Lide Gate. Wang Yongcheng checked enrolment progress and volunteer service arrangements at orientation booths in Juhanzhai and the South Campus. Li Yonghua visited Shanzhashu and Qinggangli dormitory buildings on Lihu Campus to learn about accommodation arrangements and inspect the maintenance of campus infrastructure.
During orientation, the University Volunteers Federation and volunteers from various schools provided on-campus services including route guidance, luggage handling, and information consultation. The College of Mechatronics and Control Engineering deployed six robots independently designed by members of the RoboPilots team for volunteer work, tasked with luggage transport and on-site patrols. Shi Liang, deputy captain of the team, stated that these robots are normally used for the RoboMaster competition and were repurposed for orientation services this time.
The university's five major student communities set up orientation installations and service booths throughout the enrolment period. Chundi and Xiazheng dormitory buildings in the Canghai community have undergone comprehensive renovation, with furniture updated in 677 rooms. Some dormitory buildings in the Wenshanhu community and Shiguang community also received new furniture.
In addition, new students received two sets of orientation materials: handwritten letters from the Class of 2026 graduates, as well as the National Scholarship Guidebook and the 2026 Undergraduate Career Planning Matrix Handbook compiled by the Student Affairs Office. Graduates shared their personal experiences and advice in the letters.
Profiles of some new students: A student surnamed Cheng from the College of Civil and Transportation Engineering travelled to the university with his family from the edge of the Taklamakan Desert in Xinjiang. Twin sisters Peng Xiaoqi and Peng Xiaoling were admitted to the School of Humanities with identical scores in the national college entrance examination. Zhong Qianrou, a new student majoring in Advertising (Honours Programme) at the School of Media and Communication, previously attracted online attention for her experience of changing the answer sheet during the national college entrance examination. A freshman surnamed Li at the School of Humanities comes from an alumni family: both her mother and uncle are Shenzhen University alumni, and her mother enrolled in the School of Humanities in 1999.
