​Party Secretary and President of Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City Nguyen Thi Thanh Mai visits Shenzhen University

On the afternoon of March 31, Nguyen Thi Thanh Mai, Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam and Party Secretary and President of Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City, led a delegation on a visit to Shenzhen University, accompanied by Nguyen Viet Dung, Consul General of Viet Nam in Guangzhou.

Xu Bo, Party Secretary of Shenzhen University, warmly welcomed Nguyen Thi Thanh Mai and her delegation and briefed them on the university's development history and overall profile. He stated that China and Vietnam, as socialist countries, share many common features in their educational development philosophies. In recent years, economic and trade ties between the two countries have become increasingly close, laying a solid foundation for multi-level cooperation between the two universities. He expressed hope that both sides would take this visit as an opportunity to further strengthen cooperation in talent exchange, scientific research collaboration, and academic exchanges, and to continuously expand areas of cooperation.

Nguyen Thi Thanh Mai introduced the basic profile of Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City. She stated that Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City holds a leading position in scientific research in Vietnam, but still has room for improvement in the transformation and industrial application of research outcomes. She expressed hope that the visit would provide an opportunity to learn from Shenzhen University's experience in technological innovation and research commercialization. She also expressed the hope that both sides would further deepen cooperation in student exchange, joint research projects, and joint training programs, and explore the possibility of establishing new joint academic programs, thereby promoting higher-level collaboration between Chinese and Vietnamese universities in education, science and technology, and talent development.

Following the meeting, representatives from Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City, together with scholars and entrepreneurs from the Belt and Road International Cooperation Development (Shenzhen) Research Institute of Shenzhen University, held a symposium. They exchanged views on Shenzhen University's achievements in scientific and technological innovation, research cooperation and exchanges between the two universities, as well as student and faculty mobility.
