On the morning of March 26, Indian Consul General in Guangzhou Gince Kuruvilla Mattam and his delegation visited Shenzhen University. Xu Bo, Party Secretary of Shenzhen University, and Chao Naipeng, Vice President of Shenzhen University, met with the guests at Conference Room 205, Huiyuan Building, Yuehai Campus. The two sides held discussions on deepening academic research collaboration, talent exchange, and cooperation in high-tech fields between China and India.

Xu Bo welcomed Gince Kuruvilla Mattam and his delegation and briefly introduced the university's founding history and achievements in internationalized education. He stated that Shenzhen University was founded alongside the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone and has developed rapidly over the past 43 years by leveraging the innovation-driven environment of the Special Zone. The university has continuously expanded its international education programs, attracting a growing number of Indian students for study and exchange, with doctoral students accounting for 40% of them. He also noted that Shenzhen University has maintained a long-standing and fruitful history of academic cooperation with India. The Centre for Indian Studies of Shenzhen University, established in 2005, has become an important think tank platform for Indian studies in China. The Tan Yunshan China-India Friendship Pavilion and the Tagore bronze statue on campus stand as important symbols of cultural exchange and mutual learning between Chinese and Indian civilizations. Over the years, the university has assisted in the reprinting of the Records of the Western Regions, which was presented as a state gift to India, and has co-hosted the meetings of China-India High-level People-to-People and Cultural Exchanges Mechanism, continuously serving as a solid bridge for bilateral exchanges between China and India. In May 2025, the Indian Ambassador to China visited Shenzhen University and reached important consensus with the university on deepening educational cooperation, further advancing academic exchange and collaboration between China and India.
Xu Bo expressed hope that Gince Kuruvilla Mattam's visit would serve as a new opportunity for more practical cooperation in areas such as academic research, talent cultivation, youth exchange, and cultural exchange and mutual learning, thereby making greater contributions to enhancing friendship between the people of China and India.
Gince Kuruvilla Mattam expressed appreciation for Shenzhen University's long-term contributions to China-India cooperation. He stated that China and India, with a combined population accounting for around 40% of the world's total, maintain friendly bilateral relations that are of great significance to the well-being of both peoples and to global peace and prosperity. He noted that universities, think tanks, and scholars play an important role in promoting mutual understanding and trust between the two countries. He also shared cooperation models between Indian higher education institutions and other countries in areas such as faculty exchange and joint research, and expressed optimism about the potential for collaboration in science and technology innovation between Indian high-tech research institutions and Shenzhen University.
Gince Kuruvilla Mattam expressed hope that the visit would serve as a platform for building new channels of communication between the two sides, further deepening cooperation across various fields, continuously enhancing friendship between the people of China and India, and jointly promoting the steady development of bilateral relations.
