On the morning of July 15, the opening ceremony of the 4th Carnival for Taiwan Teachers and Students in Shenzhen Colleges and Universities in 2025, themed "Intelligence Ignites A New Chapter · Cloud Creates the Future," was held at the International Conference Hall of Shenzhen University's Yuehai Campus. Wu Baoshui, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Shenzhen University Committee, attended the ceremony alongside representatives from the Taiwan Affairs Office of the Shenzhen Municipal People's Government, the Shenzhen Municipal Committee of the Communist Youth League, Taiwan Merchant Association Shenzhen, and Overseas Chinese Town Holdings Company. Over a hundred faculty and student representatives from Shenzhen University, partner Taiwan universities, and other local institutions participated in the event.

Established in 2023, the carnival has been successfully held three times. This year's event is guided by the Taiwan Affairs Office of the Shenzhen Municipal People's Government, hosted by Shenzhen University, and co-organized by the Shenzhen Students' Federation, Overseas Chinese Town Holdings Company, and Taiwan Merchant Association Shenzhen. Jointly planned and implemented by faculty and students from both Shenzhen and Taiwan, the carnival aims to continuously foster a high-quality exchange platform, promote meaningful cross-strait interaction, and deepen mutual understanding. It also seeks to help Taiwan participants experience the dynamic development of the Greater Bay Area and appreciate the richness of Chinese cultural heritage, thereby strengthening youth ties and contributing to the peaceful development of cross-strait relations.
In his speech, Wu Baoshui emphasized Shenzhen University's ongoing commitment to supporting cross-strait youth exchanges. He expressed hope that through the five-day program, Taiwan faculty and students would gain firsthand insight into the cultural confidence and vitality of the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone, appreciate the spirit of reformandinnovation, and develop a stronger sense of identity and belonging within Chinese culture.

During the ceremony, attendees viewed a short film reflecting on the warm memories of previous carnivals and enjoyed a vibrant lineup of cultural and sports performances.
This year's carnival features a series of activities aligned with its theme, including visits to high-tech and cultural enterprises, the Shenzhen Science & Technology Museum, and exhibitions such as "Great Tides Surge Along the Pearl River" and "Splendid China." Participants will also engage in introductory courses on artificial intelligence. These activities are designed to further enhance mutual understanding and friendship among youth from both sides of the Taiwan Strait.
