Shenzhen University hosts 2025 Campus Open Day, attracting thousands for an immersive campus experience

On June 21, Shenzhen University (SZU) held its "2025 Campus Open Day", attracting thousands of prospective students, parents, and locals to explore the Yuehai and Lihu campuses. With campus maps and exclusive stamp books in hand, attendees enjoyed a comprehensive, immersive experience of SZU's daily life, getting a close-up view of the campus charm.

"Choosing Shenzhen University means embarking on an innovative journey in sync with the times"

The event began at 9:00 a.m. with the SZU 2025 Admissions Presentation at the Yuanping Stadium of Yuehai Campus.

In his speech, Mao Junfa, President of SZU, extended a warm welcome to the students and parents, offering a detailed introduction to the university's development, campus life, and its distinctive approach to talent cultivation.

Mao highlighted SZU's development with key statistics: as the only comprehensive university in Shenzhen, SZU offers 34 nationally recognized top-tier undergraduate programs, 26 doctoral programs, and 72 master's programs. Ranked around 277th internationally in the four major global university rankings and 25th domestically, SZU has emerged as a leader in China's higher education reform, setting a new benchmark for "SZU Speed".

What makes SZU stand out? From its breathtaking campus, often hailed as the most beautiful one in the country—with rolling hills, nearby sea, serene lakes, lush lychee groves, and thriving greenery—to its top-tier facilities and services; from its diverse academic and cultural activities to abundant international exchange opportunities, SZU offers an unparalleled experience. Mao particularly emphasized the university's strategic location, "Over 200 listed companies, including the headquarters of Tencent and Huawei, are located nearby, creating the 'Shenzhen University Innovation and Entrepreneurship Ecosystem'." He encouraged prospective students, saying, "Choosing Shenzhen University means embarking on an innovative journey in sync with the times. Join us at Shenzhen University and step onto this grand journey with us!"

Chao Naipeng, Vice President of SZU, introduced the university's distinctive educational model, providing a detailed explanation of its "innovation and entrepreneurship" talent cultivation system, which integrates professional education with entrepreneurship, employs a multi-tiered development approach, and emphasizes fostering students' autonomous growth.

Why are SZU graduates highly sought-after? Chen Yunfei, Director of the Student Affairs Office, shared compelling data that underscores the competitive edge of SZU graduates, showcasing their high demand in the job market.

SZU to enroll 7,060 students nationwide in 2025, adding one academician-taught class and four specialized classes

SZU has announced its enrollment plan for 2025, with a total of 7,060 students set to be admitted—an increase of 60 compared to 2024. The university will admit students from all 31 provinces, autonomous regions, municipalities across Chinese mainland, as well as from Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR), Macao SAR, Chinese Taiwan, and overseas Chinese.

Zhu Lingyan, Director of the SZU Admissions Office, explained that the university's 2025 enrollment strategy focuses on expanding programs related to Shenzhen's "20+8" industrial clusters, in response to national strategic needs and the growing demand in these key sectors.

What is the experience of studying at SZU like? Two exceptional graduates, Zheng Zhenqi from the College of Economics and Huang Yanji from the College of Electronics and Information Engineering, shared their inspiring journeys at SZU— from their first year as freshmen to becoming "Liyuan Stars", reflecting on their growth and achievements during their time at the university.

Following the presentation, SZU's Admissions Office and colleges/departments held on-site consultations, providing in-depth information about the highlights of their disciplines and programs, while addressing questions from prospective students and parents. It is learned that SZU's admissions consultation services for 2025 are now available via an online mini-program and the official hotline.

Explore the campus: over 40 check-in spots for a hands-on experience

To provide a comprehensive view of its academic resources and campus culture, SZU's Open Day featured more than 40 recommended check-in spots, with over 120 interactive stations. Visitors, including prospective students, parents, and locals, had the opportunity to attend lectures, watch performances, tour research facilities, and participate in fun experiments, gaining a deeper understanding of the university's campus environment, unique educational features, and achievements in student development.

In addition to exploring the campuses of their chosen departments, visitors could collect stamps at each check-in spot. SZU made a special promise to prospective students: those who collect stamps from any three stations during the Open Day and present their SZU acceptance letter in September will receive a mysterious gift to celebrate their admission!

Liu, a prospective student from Huizhou No. 1 High School, visited the Lihu Campus and then dashed to the Yuehai Campus. "SZU is a dynamic and powerful university. I'm aiming to meet the admission requirements and return to SZU this September!" he said. Ma, a student from Longcheng High School, also shared his hope of successfully applying once his exam results are released.

Liu, a student from Huai'an, Jiangsu, who was recommended for direct admission to high school, expressed a strong desire to join SZU's School of Media and Communication. "Shenzhen University has always been my dream university. Its strong academic reputation and abundant educational resources are truly impressive. I traveled more than 20 hours by train to visit the university and experience the atmosphere of this prestigious university firsthand. I look forward to successfully enrolling at Shenzhen University in three years and embarking on a new journey here!"

"Shenzhen University's Open Day isn't just about showcasing a polished image—it's about offering a genuine, vibrant insight into university life and demonstrating how innovation unfolds at the school," said a parent.
