On March 19, 2025, Shenzhen University (SZU) hosted the 2023-2024 “Stars Shine upon Liyuan” Scholarship Awards Ceremony at the International Conference Hall on the Yuehai Campus.
The scholarship evaluation for the 2023-2024 academic year was marked by three key features: a well-established system, high student engagement, and substantial rewards. The annual scholarship awards play a crucial role in the University’s talent development efforts, helping the University motivate students while also reflecting the University’s commitment to fostering a strong academic culture and campus spirit.
A total of 19,437 students were recognized with national scholarships, university-level scholarships, and social scholarships such as the Pengcheng Scholarship and AEON Scholarship, with the total amount awarded reaching CNY157.67 million.
This year, 437 students were awarded national scholarships, including 80 undergraduates, 321 master's students, and 36 doctoral students. Additionally, 97 students received the Pengcheng Scholarship, and 25 students were honored with the AEON Scholarship. Six undergraduates, including Chen Yutong from the College of Life Sciences and Oceanography, received SZU's highest honor—the Liyuan Prize for Academic Excellence. The Ceremony also recognized 190 advanced class collectives and conferred multiple individual awards, including the "Academic Excellence Award" and "Community Service Star Award".
In his keynote address, Mao Junfa, President of Shenzhen University, commended the outstanding achievements of SZU students, and praised the students for adhering to the University’s motto—“self-reliance, self-discipline, self-improvement”—and carrying forward its bold, innovative spirit. He highlighted their outstanding contributions in fields such as scientific research, entrepreneurial innovation, and community service. He noted that emerging technologies are profoundly reshaping the global landscape, and SZU will continue to empower students as innovators and entrepreneurs by employing a model that integrates education and industry and providing an environment that fosters self-directed growth. This aims to inspire them to realize their full potential.
