Vietnam's Deputy Prime Minister Pham Binh Minh leads a delegation to Shenzhen University

On March 19, 2025, to strengthen the China-Vietnam partnership and promote collaboration between Vietnam and Shenzhen in areas such as development of special economic zones, talent training, and overall growth, Vietnam's Deputy Prime Minister Pham Binh Minh led a 36-member delegation to Shenzhen University (SZU). The two sides discussed topics including the development of special economic zones, talent cultivation, and other key areas of cooperation.

Mao Junfa, President of SZU, warmly welcomed the delegation and introduced SZU's development achievements. This year marks the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Vietnam. Mao Junfa extended sincere congratulations to Vietnam for its remarkable development successes and expressed a strong desire to further deepen and expand cooperation between SZU and Vietnamese universities. He emphasized that SZU, as a key experimental and model university, is committed to contributing to the development and friendship between the two countries.

Vietnam's Deputy Prime Minister Pham Binh Minh commended Shenzhen's remarkable development achievements and expressed Vietnam's desire to learn from China’s experience in reform and opening-up to boost its own development, particularly in infrastructure, technology, and education. He hoped that SZU would continue to strengthen its partnership with Vietnamese universities and participate jointly in research and development planning as well as policy design. He also encouraged Vietnamese universities to adopt SZU’s model of growth.

During the roundtable discussion, experts such as Tao Yitao engaged in in-depth exchanges with the Vietnamese side, focusing on topics such as development of free trade zones, private sector policies, and other key issues. Both sides also discussed specific areas such as joint doctoral programs and business investment, agreeing that special economic zones play a crucial role in driving regional development. This visit, coinciding with the 75th anniversary of the establishment of China-Vietnam diplomatic relations, brings fresh momentum to bilateral cooperation. During the discussion, Pham Binh Minh raised several questions about Vietnam’s current development. Experts, including Tao Yitao, shared insights on the concept and success of special economic zones, as well as Shenzhen’s experience in this area. The two sides also delved into discussions on development of special economic zones, policies supporting private businesses, joint doctoral and postdoctoral programs, and business investment.
