Shenzhen University (SZU)’s Yuehai campus in Nanshan District was abuzz with activity today as crowds gathered for a lively Lantern Festival market.

Both students and visitors reveled in the festive atmosphere, savoring a variety of delicious foods and participating in colorful activities.
The market featured over 50 stalls across five zones. Attendees enjoyed traditional treats like tangyuan (glutinous rice dumplings), a Lantern Festival staple, while engaging in activities centered around culture, technology, arts, and health.Visitors were seen making lanterns and solving lantern riddles, both cherished customs of the Lantern Festival.
A visitor surnamed Liu was deeply moved by the vibrant atmosphere, exclaiming that this was what celebrating a holiday should feel like — everyone coming together in joyful celebration.
Osama Baig, a PhD student from Pakistan at SZU, introduced his native language, traditional Pakistani clothing, shoes, and a football made in Pakistan at his college's stall.
Baig described the event as a celebration for all. “I invited my wife to join me and experience the festivities. I also plan to visit other stalls to learn more about Chinese culture. This is a wonderful opportunity for cultural exchange in such a festive setting,” he said.
The market also showcased a variety of technological elements, such as robots and AI software, enhancing the celebration experience. Visitors had the chance to win gifts by guiding robots through obstacle courses. They also used AI software to design lantern-themed lighting displays.
Li Chenxi from Cuiyuan High School remarked that the market was a perfect blend of tradition and modern technology.The Lantern Festival falls on the 15th day of the first month of the lunar calendar.
