Shenzhen University hosts the award ceremony for the 2nd National Industrial Internet Innovation Competition

On August 23, the 2ndNational Industrial Internet Innovation Competition concluded its two-day event with a gala award ceremony at Shenzhen University (SZU). The event brought together 173 team finalists from higher education institutions, research institutes, enterprises, public organizations, and vocational colleges. After competing in online finals, the teams presented their projects in person, where the winners in the various categories were announced.

The award ceremony was hosted by Luo Junzhang, Vice President of the China Academy of Industrial Internet. Distinguished guests included Yu Haibin, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering; Wang Peng, Level I Inspector at the Information and Communications Administration of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology; Tian Chuan, Party Secretary of the China Academy of Industrial Internet; Zhang Zhimin, Deputy Director of the Science Communication and Achievement Commercialization Center at the National Natural Science Foundation of China; Xiao Yongzhong, Director of the Shenzhen Municipal Communications Administration and a member of the Guangdong Provincial Communications Administration; Li Yonghua, Vice President of Shenzhen University; and Wang Hui, President of Shenzhen Institute of Information Technology. The event was also attended by competitors, judges, and instructors.

The 2024 2ndNational Industrial Internet Innovation Competition was organized by the Expert Group on Major Research Programs for Basic Theories and Key Technologies of the Future Industrial Internet under the guidance of the Information Science Department of the National Natural Science Foundation of China. The event was jointly hosted by the China Academy of Industrial Internet, Shenzhen University, Harbin Institute of Technology, Shenzhen Technology University, and Shenzhen Institute of Information Technology. Launched in June this year, the competition focused on three critical scientific challenges related to the future of the industrial internet. It featured a range of categories for students and faculty from higher education institutions, as well as for employees from enterprises and public organizations. These categories covered all elements, processes, and connections of the industrial internet. Additionally, a special category for vocational education was specifically designed for teachers and students from vocational schools. The finals featured several technical challenges and case study competitions, designed to identify exceptional algorithms, models, and solutions that address key issues in the industrial internet. The event has played a significant role in cultivating skilled technical talent in the industrial internet sector while advancing the commercialization of resources and research outcomes. Furthermore, it has promoted the integration of industry, academia, and research, guiding professional development and educational reforms.

During the award ceremony, distinguished guests delivered speeches and presented awards to the winners in various categories, as well as to the outstanding mentors and authors of exceptional papers. The winning teams showcased their project highlights. After that, Li Jianqiang, Executive Director of the National Engineering Laboratory for Big Data System Computing Technology at Shenzhen University, handed over the competition flag to Zhang Daoqiang, Dean of the School of Artificial Intelligence at Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, on behalf of the hosting institutions.

In the subsequent presentation session, Academician Yu Haibin delivered a report onAnalysis of How the Industrial Internet Empowers Intelligent Manufacturing. Zeng Peng, Vice Director of the Shenyang Institute of Automation at the Chinese Academy of Sciences, shared an academic presentation onHuman-Machine Collaborative Control and Cross-Domain Real-Time Optimization Based on the Industrial Internet. Yang Chunhua, Deputy Director of the Academic Committee of Central South University and Dean of the School of Automation, discussedEmpowering Intelligent Manufacturing in Nonferrous Metallurgy through the Industrial Internet. Xie Yonghua, Party Secretary and President of Nanjing Vocational University of Industry Technology, delivered a presentation onExploring Pathways to Enhance the Research Capabilities of Vocational College Teachers.
