Scholars gather in SZ for seminar on Indian Ocean studies

The Second Annual Meeting of the Association for Indian Ocean Studies, as well as the Seminar on the Security Situation of the Indian Ocean in a Changing World, was held in Shenzhen from last Friday to Sunday.

The event attracted nearly 100 scholars and guests from over 50 organizations and universities such as the China Center for Contemporary World Studies, the National Marine Data and Information Service, and Renmin University of China.

During the opening ceremony on Saturday, Zhang Xiaohong, vice president of Shenzhen University (SZU), stated in her speech that through interdisciplinary, cross-regional, and cross-cultural cooperation, SZU will collaboratively explore the path of sustainable development and endeavor to construct a harmonious community with a shared future for the Indian Ocean region.

The seminar focused on topics including China-India relations, the global order and China's diplomacy, and the characteristics of the current Indian Ocean situation, among others.

The event was hosted by the Association for Indian Ocean Studies under the Chinese Association for South Asian Studies and organized by the Institute of Area and International Communication Studies of SZU and SZU’s College of International Studies.
