Academician Mao Junfa, President of Shenzhen University, leads a delegation to visit academic institutions in Macau

From May 28 to 29, 2024, Mao Junfa, President of Shenzhen University and an academician at the Chinese Academy of Sciences, was invited to attend the Expert Advisory Council for Establishing State Key Laboratory in Macau. Also, he led a delegation to visit University of Macau, Macau University of Science and Technology, and City University of Macau. During the visit, they discussed and exchanged views on talent cultivation, academic exchanges, and research cooperation. This visit further enhances the friendly cooperation between Shenzhen University and the universities in Macau, boosting the deep integration and development of higher education institutions between Guangdong and Macau.

During his stay in Macau, Mao Junfa was invited to participate in the Expert Advisory Council for Establishing State Key Laboratory in Macau, where he provided inputs on the restructuring plan for the relevant state key laboratory in Macau.

During the visit, Mao Junfa and his delegation held discussions with Liu Chak Wan, Chancellor of the Macau University of Science and Technology, Song Yonghua, Chancellor the Macau University,andZhou Wanlei and Ip Kuai Peng, Vice-Rectors of City University of Macau. They shared opinions on topics such as promoting the joint development of graduate students and deepening academic research cooperation. They expressed hopes for continued collaboration to fully leverage the unique geographical and educational resources of Macau and Shenzhen and jointly create a world-class higher education center in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area. After the symposium, representatives from Shenzhen University and other institutions exchanged gifts and took a group photo as a memento.

This meeting also led to the signing of a letter of intent for joint development doctoral students between Shenzhen University and Macau University of Science and Technology.

Leaders from the Party and Government Office, Graduate School, Department of Science and Technology Development, and Office of Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan Affairs of Shenzhen University joined the delegation on the visit and participated in relevant activities.
