
On the afternoon of May 6, 2024, Shenzhen University (SZU) and Artesis Plantijn University of Applied Sciences and Arts Antwerp, Belgium (AP) held an online signing ceremony for the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), which will facilitate extensive exchanges and bolster mutual visits between the two sides across various professional fields in the future, including Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Biomedical Laboratory Technology, and Nutrition & Dietetics.
Wim Peeters, Consul-General of Belgium in Guangzhou, Li Hui, Counselor of Education Office of the Embassy of PRC in Belgium, Professor Richard Sleeckx, Dean of the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences of AP, Zhang Xueji, Vice President of SZU, along with representatives from SZU's International Office and Medical School, graced the signing ceremony with their presence.
Wim Peeters delivered a speech, expressing his profound honor in witnessing the signing ceremony between SZU and AP. He emphasized the importance of maintaining close communication, fostering deeper cooperation, and strengthening the bonds of friendship between the two sides. Wim Peeters also extended his best wishes for the success of the forthcoming student exchange program between SZU and AP.
Ms. Li Hui highlighted that 2024 marks the 10th anniversary of the establishment of China-Belgium all-round partnership of friendly cooperation. She underscored Shenzhen's pivotal role as one of the core cities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and praised SZU as a high-level comprehensive university distinguished by its unique features and robust strengths. Ms. Li expressed confidence that the collaboration between the two sides would undoubtedly yield fruitful outcomes.
Mr. Zhang Xueji stressed that SZU, a university situated in the Special Administrative Region, recently marked its 40th birthday and has significantly contributed to talent development, scientific research, and local economic advancement. He noted that the signing of the MOU between the two sides will further invigorate their international collaboration efforts.
Prof. Richard Sleeckx delivered a speech on behalf of Pascale De Groote, Rector of AP, expressing confidence in the future prospects of cooperation between the two sides. He eagerly anticipated the advancement of collaboration in various areas, including the semester abroad programs, internship programs at affiliated hospitals, exchange visits for faculty members, and joint training programs.
