Shenzhen University's Microbiology enters the top 1% of ESI global rankings

According to the latest ESI data (dated from January 2014 to February 2024) from Clarivate on May 9, 2024, Shenzhen University (SZU)'s Microbiology has achieved a significant milestone by entering the top 1% of ESI global rankings, securing the 694th position worldwide. This signifies SZU's 19th discipline to attain the esteemed status of being ranked within the top 1% of ESI.

In the latest update, SZU's Physics newly entered into the top 3‰ of ESI. At present, four disciplines at SZU have been rated as top 1‰ globally according to ESI, i.e., Engineering, Materials Science, Computer Science, and Chemistry; four disciplines at SZU have been rated as top 3‰ globally according to ESI, i.e., Clinical Medicine, Environmental Sciences/Ecology, Social Sciences General, and Physics; three disciplines at SZU have been rated as top 5‰ globally according to ESI, i.e., Pharmacology and Toxicology, Biology and Biochemistry, and Agricultural Sciences.

According to the latest rankings, a total of 19 disciplines at SZU rank in the top 1% globally according to ESI. These disciplines, listed in the chronological order of their entry into the top 1% of ESI, are Engineering, Clinical Medicine, Materials Science, Biology and Biochemistry, Computer Science, Chemistry, Physics, Social Science General, Environmental Science/Ecology, Pharmacology and Toxicology, Agricultural Science, Botany and Zoology, Neuroscience and Behavioristics, Psychiatry and Psychology, Molecular Biology and Genetics, Earth Sciences, Immunology, Mathematics, and Microbiology.

The count of ESI highly cited papers has surged by 29.77 times since September 2015, when SZU made its debut in the ESI rankings. This remarkable growth underscores both quantitative and qualitative advancements, signifying substantial progress in discipline development and a notable enhancement in international academic productivity and influence.
