A ceremony marking the 40th anniversary of Shenzhen University (SZU) yesterday. Mayor Qin Weizhong attended the ceremony and conveyed the city government’s warm congratulations. As the first university established in the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone, SZU was lauded for its pivotal role in the city’s development. Mao Junfa, president of SZU, said at the ceremony that the university is committed to nurturing exceptional talents, driving major technological advancements and addressing real-world challenges. The university will also actively explore a distinctive path to becoming a world-class institution with Chinese characteristics, Mao said. The ceremony also featured speeches from representatives of sister universities, alumni, faculty and students.
