The Shenzhen University Alumni Conference was held in the Alumni Square of Yuehai Campus last Sunday.
The conference announced that Chen Yidan, an alumnus of 1989 majoring in applied chemistry, the main founder of Tencent, the founder and honorary chairman of Tencent Foundation, and the founder of Yidan Award, as the honorary president of Shenzhen University Alumni AssociationrepresentingtheSZUalumni team offourTencent founders (Ma Huateng, Zhang Zhidong, Chen Yidan and Xu Chenye). Meng Wanzhou, an alumnus majoring in accounting in 1990, vice chairman and rotating chairman of Huawei Company, served as the honorary president of Shenzhen University Alumni Association.
In accordance with the Articles of Association of Shenzhen University Alumni Association, the new Council was elected by voting on the spot. Deng Xueqin, chairman of Shenzhen Zhengzhong Group, Li Yibiao, chairman of Shenzhen Coastal Group, Zhang Chunhua, chairman of Shenzhen Langhua Group, and Lin Qiang, chairman of Shenzhen Engineering Survey Group were elected as Executive Presidents of the Council.
Li Qingquan, secretary of the Party Committee of Shenzhen University, said that 2023 marks the 40th anniversary of SZU, and it is also a crucial year for SZU to accelerate the establishment of a world-class comprehensive and benchmark university in socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new era. To achieve this development goal, it requires the long-term unremitting efforts of teachers and students, and more importantly, it needs the wisdom and strength of the vast number of alumni.“Alma mater and alumni are always a‘development community’that is closely related.”He said that the support of alumni is an important guarantee and an indestructible spiritual force to promote the vigorous development of various undertakings in theuniversity. SZUwill improveitsworking mechanism,toserve and unite 300,000 alumni, continuously improvingthe quality of alumni serviceand buildinga development community between alumni and their Alma mater.
President Mao Junfa said thaton the course ofSZU’sdevelopment, alumni have always been the solidsupportand an important force with outstanding contributions. Li Yibiao said that the SZUAlumni Association hasunitedmore than 300,000 alumni,amilestoneachievement. As the executive president of the Council, he will give full play to the platform’srole in his future work, build a bridge for exchanges and cooperation between alumni, and contribute to the development and construction ofSZU. He will also continue to promote the organizational construction of the Alumni Association, and build aninternational alumni platformthat encourages learning, sharing, and win-win cooperation between SZUers.
