The first academician expert workstation established by ChineseAcademy of Engineering(CAE)in Hong Kong was officially unveiled in Hong Kong on March 17.
The Academician Workstation wasjointlyestablished byChina State Construction International Holdings Limitedand Chen Xiangsheng, anAcademician ofCAE.It will introduce state-level cutting-edge scientific research achievements to the construction industry in Hong Kong, promote the exchange of talents intheGreater Bay AreaofGuangdong-Hong Kong-Macao, and contribute to the construction and development oftheGreater Bay Area.
At the unveiling ceremony, the Acting Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR), Chen Guoji, stated that the establishment of the Academician Workstation in Hong Kong complements the future development direction of Hong Kong’s innovation of science and technology.Itis of pioneering and symbolic significance for promoting the integration and development of Hong Kong and the Mainland in the fields of engineering, science and technology.
In his speech, Chen Xiangsheng stated that the establishment of an Academician Workstation in Hong Kong is in response to the call of the State to strive for greater breakthroughs in key technological fields.Itcontributes towisdom to the improvement of people’s livelihood and economic development in Hong Kong, and contributesto the transformation and upgrading of Hong Kong’s construction industry.
Zheng Xuexuan, Chairman ofChina State Construction International Holdings Limited,statedin his speech that theAcademician Workstation is based on serving the construction oftheGreater Bay AreaofGuangdong-Hong Kong-Macao, relying on the unique advantages of Hong Kongtogather innovative resources.Itfocuseson tackling key core technologies in the fields of infrastructure,intelligentconstruction andconstructionindustrialization, helping Hong Kong accelerate the construction of an international innovation and technology center with global influence.
In his speech, Li Rusheng, Chief Engineer of the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, expressed his belief that Academician Chen Xiangsheng’s Workstation would become a crucial connecting point between the mainland and the Hong Kong construction industry. It is bound tostrengthen the in-depth cooperation between the mainland and Hong Kong’s construction industry and make new contributions to the long-term and stable development of Hong Kong.
It is understood that the workstation will focus on green and low-carbon development,intelligentconstruction and other key technical fields, speed up the tackling of major engineering technologies, promote the integration of Shenzhen and Hong Kong, revitalize Hong Kong through science and technology, and lead scientific and technologicaltransformationin the construction industry. In the future, theWorkstation will continue to maintain exchanges and cooperation with the academicfieldsand the construction industry in Hong Kong, actively promote the industrialization andintellectualizationof the construction industry in Hong Kong on topics such as green and low-carbon buildings, and support the transformation and upgrading of the construction industry in Hong Kong.
