The uniforms for staff and volunteers have been unveiled for the 2022 Winter Olympics. Our reporter Cen Ziyuan tells us more about the designs.
The colors red and blue make up the main motif. All the Winter Games gear for staff and volunteers are out. And it's a complete look from clothes to shoes and accessories.
WU HONG Member, Winter Olympic Uniform and Equipment Committee "The overall design demonstrates China's capabilities in creating sports outfits. It includes many elements of Chinese traditional culture, such as Chinese monochromes and art forms. It also showcases the developing and innovative China's spirit."
CEN ZIYUAN Beijing "The final look is selected out of a pool of six hundred design running through eight rounds of modifications. The set can be mixed and matched to fit the needs to move in different scenarios and temperatures."
XU PING Member, Winter Olympic Uniform and Equipment Committee "The designers have taken into consideration the unique characters of the city Beijing, as well as the sports programs, the overall looks we want to convey and the spirit. We want to be able to have these abstract elements included into the design. We want to be accurate and effective in expressing those ideas."
The uniform designs take from traditional landscape paintings. The core graphic element is the snow-capped mountains. Officials say the overall design of uniforms and equipment is developed around a perfect combination of functionality, nationalism and artistry. They hope it will help lift up the Chinese spirit and sportsmanship when the uniforms are seen and worn. Cen Ziyuan, CGTN, Beijing.
