On the morning of April 11, Carol Kim, Senior Vice President of The New School and his team, visited our university to discuss the progress of the preparatory work of the Parsons School of Design at Shenzhen University and the vision of cooperation between the two universities. They were welcomed and received by Li Qingquan, President of Shenzhen University.
Li Qingquan extended his welcome to Vice President Carol Kim and his team on their second visit. He said that Shenzhen University has always attached great importance to international exchanges and cooperation. Currently Shenzhen University has established cooperative relations with 300 universities around the world. The Parsons School of Design at The New School has a long history and is ranked among the world’s best design schools. The establishment of the Parsons School of Design at Shenzhen University will further strengthen Shenzhen University’s academic administration on international level. The preparatory work of the Parsons School of Design at Shenzhen University has already laid a good foundation. The two sides have signed a memorandum of cooperation and completed the feasibility report and preparation plan. The implementation of the project should be started as soon as possible, aimed at striving to make the “Parsons School of Design at Shenzhen University” a world-class research, creative and innovative design center. The goal is to accelerate the transformation of the modern, international city of Shenzhen into a highly innovative and creative city with global influence.
Vice President Carol Kim expressed his gratitude to the Futian District Government, Shenzhen Education Bureau and Shenzhen University for their support. He emphasized that the Parsons School of Design attaches great importance to the cooperation with Shenzhen and Shenzhen University and looked forward to the smooth development of the cooperation project with the support of the Shenzhen Municipal Government. The Parsons School of Design believes that China's science, creativity and innovation industries, especially those in Shenzhen, are developing rapidly, thus are in urgent need of leading international art and creative design talents. The Parsons School of Design is willing to use its influence in the international world of design to attract international resources and build Shenzhen into a creative center in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, Asia, and even the whole world. The Parsons School of Design looks forward to extensive cooperation with companies, governments and other institutions in research and design innovation in Shenzhen, playing a key role in the continued development of the creative economy in Shenzhen and throughout China.
